The State Open Doubles championship was held on the weekend of 6-7 April 2024. Seventeen teams from around WA competed – not only players from several Perth clubs but also Hyden, Busselton, Bunbury, Waroona, Dunsborough, York, Pinjarra and Mandurah. What a turn-out!
Games were played at Forrest Park and Nedlands, with the final held at Forrest Park on a very warm Sunday afternoon between Gary Phipps and Robyn Dart (Moorabinda/Busselton) against Chris McWhirter and Jeni Rechter (Forrest Park/Como). Gary and Robyn were the winners, and not for the first time.
Huge thanks to all the organisers, hoop setters, chefs, gardeners and cleaners – all hands on deck by the many volunteers who make these events possible. Well done everyone!
